When I decided to leave my six-figure leadership role in corporate America, I was both terrified and exhilarated. The security of a steady paycheck was hard to let go of, but the pull toward entrepreneurship and time, creative and financial freedom was stronger.
Here are some great tips I have learned along the way that I hope will help you, too.
- Start with a Side Hustle: Begin with a side hustle that allows you to test your ideas without giving up your day job. This will give you the confidence to eventually take the plunge.
- Create a Financial Cushion: If possible, save enough money to cover six months of living expenses. This safety net allows you to focus on building your business without constant financial stress.
- Develop a Business Plan: Outline your goals, target market, and strategies in a detailed business plan. This plan will be your roadmap, guiding you through the early stages of your entrepreneurial journey.
- Build Your Network by connecting with other entrepreneurs, attending events, and joining online communities. The support and advice from others who have been “there” are invaluable.
- Manage Your Time Wisely: Prioritizing tasks and setting realistic goals will help you maintain a balance between your new business and personal life.
